Times Higher Education Young University Ranking

UM ranked as world’s fifth best young university

Maastricht University (UM) has come fifth in the Times Higher Education Young University Rankings. The prestigious magazine ranks 250 international universities aged 50 years or under according to 13 performance indicators, which fall in the categories teaching, research, citations, international outlook, and industry income. The methodology differs from World University in that the indicators are weighted differently to allow for a better comparison of younger universities – reputation, for example, is deemphasised.

UM is up one place compared to the 2017 ranking of young universities. In THE’s recently published general World University Rankings, UM has come in at 103rd of more than 1,000 universities around the world.
