Yvonne van der Meer member scientific committee of the Bio-Based Industries Joint Undertaking

Yvonne van der Meer, Associate Professor Sustainability of Biobased Materials and Head of the department of Biobased Materials from Maastricht University Faculty of Humanities and Sciences, as of April 12th has been appointed as a member of the scientific committee of the Bio-Based Industries Joint Undertaking. The BBI-JU is a €3.7 billion Public-Private Partnership between the EU and the Bio-based Industries Consortium (BIC).

European circular economy
The BBI is planting the seeds of the European circular economy, using only renewable natural resources to make everyday products “Made in Europe”. Each one of us will therefore be able to contribute to fighting climate change, and as such, stimulating Europe’s local, regional and national economies. Most importantly, the BBI is putting in place a sustainable growth model that will truly benefit future generations.

Scientific committee
A a member of the scientific committee Yvonne van der Meer will give advice about priorities in the work programmes and the results in the BBI programme. The scientific committee has been reinforced with six new members, alle selected from applications earlier this year. New members will be presented on the BBI-JU website.
