Kiran Patel awarded EU funding as Jean Monnet Chair
Starting in September 2015, the Faculty will have an additional Jean Monnet Chair. Kiran Patel’s application had already been successful in the 2014 round, but was postponed due to a visiting professorship in London. The new Jean Monnet Chair will strengthen the historical component of European studies at the faculty. Recently, Patel was elected fellow of the Royal Historical Society.

The Jean Monnet chair is closely connected to the Centre for European Research in Maastricht (CERiM) and to HOMER, a transnational Jean Monnet Centre co-organised by FASoS (Sophie Vanhoonacker and Kiran Patel), the University of Cologne, and the German Sports University.
