Epidemiology of Musculoskeletal Disorders

Embedded within the department of Epidemiology, and part of the larger Caphri research programme Functioning, Participation & Rehabilitation is the program musculoskeletal epidemiology. This program is chaired by prof. Dr. Rob de Bie and is staffed by members from the departments of epidemiology, anatomy, physiotherapy and orthopedics (Maastricht UMC and Zuyderland MC).

This truly multidisciplinary programme houses themes from fundamental to implementation research, and researches the impact of interventions on patients with musculoskeletal disorders. Our researchers are also active in education and patient care, therewith easing the transfer from new research findings into teaching and practice, but also enabling questions from those areas as new starting points for research.
