SDG Seminar Series: Sustainable Consumption

Christmas is coming up and with it the frenzy for (last minute) gifts! Before the holidays arrive, join us for an SDG lecture on Sustainable Consumption SDG 12.

PhD researcher Laura Niessen will introduce some of the background on the impacts of our consumption and why we should rethink it. She will provide inspiration for how you can consume more sustainably, during the holiday time and beyond. Based on her own research, she will also give examples of companies supporting the move towards less resource-intensive consumption and also point the importance/role of research in this field out. She offers a first-hand insight into how to contribute with research to improving sustainable consumption.

Laura Niessen is a PhD researcher at the Maastricht Sustainability Institute (part of SBE). Her research focuses on how businesses can help to promote more sustainable consumption patterns and sufficiency. Previously, she worked on circular economy research and policy in Ireland.
