My Year with Helen: movie screening and Q&A with Helen Clark
By any measure, Helen Clark is an exceptional woman. Ms Clark was:
• ranked as one of the 25 most powerful women in the world by Forbes Magazine
• the first elected female Prime Minister of New Zealand (1999-2008)
• the first woman to lead the United Nations Development Programme (2009-2016)
In 2016, Ms Clark announced her candidacy for Secretary-General of the United Nations.
‘My Year with Helen’ (A Film by Gaylene Preston), tells a story of leadership, patriarchy, women and power as filmmaker Gaylene Preston follows Helen Clark in her attempt to shatter the ultimate glass ceiling: to become the first female UN Secretary-General. As Ms Clark herself puts it, ‘The film conveys how tough it is to break the remaining glass ceilings. May it motivate future generations of women to keep at it!’
The screening will be followed by a Q&A, where Ms Clark will delve deeper into this pivotal year in her career and share her experiences as a high-ranking female UN official. Join us for an evening of inspiration and stimulating discussion at the Lumière Cinema!
