Music and language in the brain

Hearing does not take place in the ear. Incoming sound waves are filtered, processed and interpreted by the brain.  Dr. Michelle Moerel (MaCSBio) wil explain this process during her lecture.

Human hearing is something special. We effortlessly understand speech and recognise music from years back. Modern imaging technologies like functional MRI allow us to see the brain ‘in action’, so that we can investigate the processes underlying hearing. In this lecture you will learn how our brain makes sense of the sounds that surround us.

The centre’s primary aim is to facilitate the integration of biological data coming from several empirical domains using mathematical multi-scale modelling approaches.
