Noa Kaesler (N.W.A.N.)

Noa Kaesler recently started her new position as a PhD candidate at the law faculty.

She enjoyed her previous education at Maastricht's honor college, University College Maastricht with a focus on forensic psychology. A semester abroad at the University of California, Irvine and her recently completed Master in Legal Psychology allowed her to further develop her experience in the field.

As a research assistant she worked on research projects that focused on lay people's perceptions of false confessions, the right to silence (EmpRiSe), and perceptions of sex offenders in civil commitment trials. This sparked her interest to conduct her own research and led to the pursue of a PhD.

Her current PhD research at the law faculty takes a data driven, scientifically supported approach to defense lawyer’s decision making process regarding their request for (additional) expert evidence in court. To date, the topic has yet to be subjected to scientific scrutiny and their strategies remain intuitive. With her research, influence from specific factors will be revealed allowing for the development of a scientifically supported best practice approach.

In her spare time you can find Noa working as a cook in a fine dining wine restaurant.
