The Cabinet has agreed to submit the nomination of J.E. (Jacobine) van den Brink as a member of the Electoral Council to King Willem-Alexander for approval. She has been appointed professor of European and National Administrative Law at Maastricht University as of 1 July 2016.
Research institute METRO (in cooperation with colleagues from the Faculty of Law) recently finished the research project ‘WP9: Aansprakelijkheid voor blootstelling aan chroom-6 in de context van het tROM-project’, which was commissioned by the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment, RIVM. The report (that consists of two parts) became public on Thursday 31 January 2019 and is available here.
The activities for the B-Solutions project “Roadmap and factsheet for the recognition of qualifications for highly demanded professions” have recently started. This project, submitted by the Province of Limburg (NL) as lead applicant and carried out by ITEM, brings together partners along the Dutch border comprising partners from the Netherlands, Belgium, North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony.
MUMC+ is cooperating with parties in the Euregio Meuse-Rhine on the establishment of a Euregional Centre for Paediatric Surgery. This process leads to a large number of questions and challenges. One of these concerns the education and training of paediatric surgeons in the Netherlands, Belgium and Germany and their mobility between the three countries. ITEM researches this topic on behalf of the MUMC+.

On-Site Farewell Lecture Prof. dr. Hildegard Schneider
The valedictory lecture of Prof. Schneider, professor in European Migration Law and former dean of the Faculty of Law will also be availbale via a live stream. The title of her lecture is: "Crossing borders: Challenges and Chances"
