At Maastricht University, we understand the unique challenges faced by international students when moving to the Netherlands. That's why we offer additional support to help you navigate the complexities of living abroad.

- International Student Helpdesk (ISH)
The ISH can offer assistance with translating Dutch correspondence from the municipality, providing information on social benefits and even calling Dutch institutions on your behalf.
- International Student Welcome Day
The ISH organises a welcome day for new international students. During this dayt, you get the opportunity to meet fellow international students during fun activities.
- Buddy programme for new international students
For new international students, we offer a buddy programme that helps you make new friends and comfortably settle in to life at UM.
- Residence permit: extension, replacement, travel
Do you need to extend or replace a residence permit? Or manage temporary travel abroad? The UM Visa Office is your go-to resource.
- Applying for asylum as a student
If you are facing difficulties returning to your home country due to safety concerns, or if your family is at risk, we offer guidance on applying for asylum in the Netherlands. We also offer information for refugees who are applying to study at UM.
