Coming to the Netherlands from abroad
Relocating to the Netherlands involves several important steps to ensure you're set up properly for your stay, such as registering your address with the municipality, arranging a bank account and health insurance and even getting a job.
Find out more on the following pages:
- Registering for the first time in the Netherlands
It's mandatory to register your new address with the local municipality within five days of your arrival in the Netherlands.
- Opening a Dutch bank account
If your current bank account from your country is not a SEPA account, you will need to open a Dutch bank account for easier financial transactions.
- Compulsory health insurance for foreign students
Make sure you meet the minimum requirements for health insurance coverage in the Netherlands.
- Working in the Netherlands as a non-Dutch student
If you plan to work while studying, check the specific employment requirements for non-Dutch students.
