Maastricht University's Executive Board and Management Team have agreed to allow a group of ‘observers’ to stay in the FASoS garden for the the second consecutive night. This will take place under the same conditions as last night.
This decision follows yet another day of peaceful actions and dialogue with members of the internal university community.
Tomorrow, the University Council will visit the activists for an information session. Next Friday, the University Council will hold a special meeting to generate advice on how to handle relations with academic institutions in Israel.
Yesterday, we reported that the Executive Board attaches great importance to giving students and staff with different perspectives on the Middle East conflict the space to engage with the Board as well. Tomorrow we want to determine how this 'broad dialogue' can be shaped.
We are especially mindful of the fact that students and staff may have (great) difficulty with the current situation and may want to seek help. Students wishing to speak to a UM psychologist can register at: secretarystudentdesk@maastrichtuniversity.nl. There, staff will arrange for a psychologist to contact you directly. If you experience inappropriate behaviour on our campus, it is best to contact the Social Safety Team for students.
Staff can turn to the Concerns & Complaints Point. (UMployee) In case of acute problems, we advise staff to contact their GP.
Maastricht University's Executive Board, in close consultation with the deans, is developing a human rights due diligence assessment tool to help make an informed assessment of whether, and if so to what extent, our partners with whom we have an administrative partnership are involved in violations...
In the morning of Wednesday, 22 May, a group of student protestors occupied a Maastricht University (UM) building at Grote Gracht. This prompted the university to engage in discussions with the protesters, some of whom had also set up a tent camp behind the building the previous week.
Due to the occupation of some of the FASoS buildings, FASoS will be closed until further notice. There will be no teaching on-campus today and we are looking into whether classes can move online. Our students will be informed about the closure of our buildings and the consequences this has on...
UM is still in dialogue with the protesting students that are involved in today's occupation of the FASoS building. The aim is and remains 'de-escalation', and the safety of everyone involved comes first. At the same time, we want to ensure that we can fulfil our primary task, education and research...
School children perform better at school, particularly in arithmetic, if they have a healthy lunch and get varied exercise. These are the findings of new research based on data from the Healthy Primary School of the Future (HPSF) project, a long-term study by Maastricht University (UM).
Two Maastricht University (UM) scientists will receive a €850,000 Vidi grant for their research projects. This was announced by the Dutch Research Council (NWO) on Thursday.
